Migratory birds calendar
Every year, from about September to April, migrant birds from northern Asia and Europe spend the northern winter in Sri Lanka — ducks, waders, flamingos, shrikes, swallows and the much-loved Indian pitta. The coastal wetlands of the south-east and the Mannar coast are the best places to see them. The calendar shows the months each species is usually here.
